Privacy Policy
Fanwave Life · Last updated: May 6, 2026
1. Overview
Fanwave Life ("we", "our", "the App") is a haptic-social platform that lets creators send real-time haptic signals to their followers' devices. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.
2. Information We Collect
- Account data — email address, display name, @handle, and an optional profile avatar (stored as a compressed image).
- Profile metadata — optional bio, tags, and profile link that you choose to add.
- Role and subscription status — whether you are a Producer or Consumer, and your current subscription tier.
- Haptic event data — haptic patterns you create or send are transmitted via our MQTT broker in real time and are not permanently stored on our servers.
- Direct messages and group chat — text messages sent within the app are stored on our server to support delivery and conversation history.
- Feedback submissions — if you submit in-app feedback, we store the content and category you provided.
- Authentication tokens — a signed JWT stored securely in your device's Keychain (never transmitted in plain text).
We do not collect location data, contacts, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Account authentication — to log you in and verify your identity.
- Service operation — to deliver haptic events to your followers, maintain follow relationships, and route messages.
- Subscription management — to determine feature access based on your tier (Free, VIP, or Subscriber).
- Customer support — to respond to feedback and resolve issues.
- Service improvement — aggregated, anonymous usage patterns may be reviewed to improve the app.
4. Third-Party Services
Fanwave Life does not currently integrate any third-party analytics SDKs, crash-reporting services, or advertising networks. Your data is not sold or shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
We use the following infrastructure providers whose servers process data on our behalf:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — our server and MQTT broker run on EC2 instances in the ap-northeast-1 (Tokyo) region.
- Apple App Store — in-app purchases are processed by Apple. Apple's privacy policy applies to payment data.
5. Microphone, Camera, and Bluetooth
- Microphone — used locally on your device to detect audio levels for haptic triggers, to record voice clips, and for voice calls. Audio is processed on-device; raw audio is never uploaded to our servers.
- Camera — used solely to scan QR codes. Images are not saved or transmitted.
- Bluetooth — used to connect to your personal IoT haptic device. Bluetooth data stays on your local network and device.
6. Data Retention
- Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
- Real-time haptic events are not stored; they are delivered once and discarded.
- Messages are retained to support conversation history and may be deleted upon account deletion.
7. Account Deletion and Data Removal
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing edwinyang@gmail.com with the subject line Delete My Account. We will process your request within 30 days. After deletion, your data is permanently removed from our servers.
8. Security
Passwords are stored as salted hashes (bcrypt). All client–server communication is encrypted via HTTPS (TLS 1.2+) and MQTTS (TLS 1.2+). Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain.
9. Children's Privacy
Fanwave Life is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
